⭐︎一月はガーネット

硬度7
ガーネットとは
正式には鉱物のグループ名です。
つまり、沢山の色や種類があり
一般的にはアクセサリーにも使われる比較的安価な紅い天然宝石ガーネットから
高額に取引される天然レアストーンまで様々です。

 

⭐︎ January is Garnet

Hardness 7

Officially, garnet is the name of a group of minerals.

There are many colors and types, ranging from the relatively inexpensive red natural gem garnets, which are commonly used in accessories, to natural rare gem garnets that are traded at high prices.

そのレアストーンガーネットの中で
⭐︎ロードライトGarnet（以下G)
はパープルがちなダークピンクの輝きのある透明度高いレアストーンですが、
良いものも比較的手に入りやすく
楽しめますね。

Among the rare stone garnets, 
⭐︎ Rhodolite Garnet (hereinafter referred to as “G”) is a highly transparent rare stone with a dark pink glow and a purple tint, but good ones are also relatively easy to find and enjoy.

濃い輝くブラッドレッド
この種類の中には十字架の様にスターを出すレアストーンがあり、
とても美しく高額なレアストーンです。
個人的にはまだ一度しか見たことがないのですが、かなりのコレクターストーンで、
個人的にはとっても手に入れたい宝石ですね。

⭐︎ Pyrope G

Dark shiny blood red

Some of this type produce stars like crosses, and are very beautiful and expensive rare gemstones.

I have only seen it once personally, but it is quite a collector stone and I personally would very much like to have it.

 
⭐︎グロシュラーG 又はツァボライトG
(ツァボライトとはアフリカの山の名前でここで産出されるもの)
深く澄んだグリーンの美しいガーネットは心を奪われるような鮮やかなグリーンです。

⭐︎Grossular G or Tsavorite G 
(Tsavorite is the name of a mountain in Africa where garnet is found.)

The deep, clear green of those beautiful garnets is an enthralling, vibrant green.

 

この様に
ガーネットと一言で言っても
その価値も色も様々なので、ガーネットはその意味で、１月がお誕生日の方には、好きな色が選べるのも嬉しいことですね。

日本名は紫水晶、つまりパープル色のクォーツです。
水晶系なので世界に産地も多く、
古代からある宝石として知られています。
ガーネットと同様、世界中で採れるのでアクセサリーでもよく見かけます。

古代ギリシャではお酒に酔わないお守り石だったようですね。

Amethyst is purple quartz.

Since it is a variety of quartz, it can be found in many places around the world and is known as an ancient gemstone.

Like garnet, it can be found all over the world and is often seen in accessories.

In ancient Greece, amethyst was a charm stone to keep people from getting drunk.

聖書の出エジプト記には
祭司の前当てエポデの中に埋め込まれイスラエル12部族の宝石(ｲﾂｻｶﾙ族ﾍﾞﾆｱﾐﾝ族ﾀﾞﾝ族諸説あり)の一つとして書かれています。
ヨーロッパで25000年前ので遺跡から発掘されたという話もあります。

In Exodus in the Bible, amethyst is mentioned as one of the jewels of the 12 tribes of Israel (Various theories exist - either Issachar, Benjamin, Dan, or other tribe), embedded in the ephod, the official vestment of the high priest.

Amethyst is also said to have been excavated from a 25,000-year-old archaeological site in Europe.

レアな価値あるアメシストはアフリカ、ブラジルで産出される
ディスパージョン(光の分散)が強く
気品ある紫の輝きと深みがあるものです。
インクルージョンが少なく透明度の高いものは比較的高額で取引されます。

The rarest and most valuable amethysts are those from Africa and Brazil, which have strong dispersion of light and elegant purple brilliance and depth.

Amethysts with few inclusions and high transparency are traded at relatively high prices.

セミプレシャスストーンと言われ
硬度が7以下の種類のカラーストーンです。
ちなみにダイヤモンドやサファイア、ルビーなど比較的高額で硬度がある宝石をプレシャスストーンと呼ばれています。

個人的には、
この分け方にはちょっと疑問があります。
幾万年もかけて結晶したと言われる美しいカラーストーンにはどれにも神秘的な趣きがあり、まさしく神様の被造物だと感じられます。この天然美は人の造るものとは圧倒的に違うということです。

Personally, I have some concerns about this method of classification.

All of these beautiful colored stones, which are said to have been crystallized over tens of thousands of years, have mysterious beauty that makes us feel that those are truly God's creations.

This natural beauty is overwhelmingly different from that of man's creations.

 

この様に天然の数多くのカラーストーンには
産出が難しいレアストーンが沢山ありますので
誕生石としてのカテゴリーではない
興味深い宝石の話もここでしていきたいと感じています。
